The Organization consists of not-for-profit entities, with the exception of HH Plymouth, as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the Code), and is exempt from federal income taxes on related income pursuant to Section 501(a) of the Code. The Organization believes that it has appropriate support for the income tax positions taken and to be taken, and that its accruals for tax liabilities are adequate for all open tax years based on an assessment of many factors including experience and interpretations of tax laws applied to the facts of each matter. As part of these relationships, the Organization registered for and secured the licenses to conduct gaming activities with the New Hampshire Lottery Commission. In this engagement, the casino was contracted by the Organization to host, operate, and run gaming and casino events on behalf of the Organization. The Organization did not pay any fees, leases, or rents to make use of their facilities, equipment, and staffing resources, and was not involved with the running of the games; the casino collected all gaming revenues, kept the books and records for the charitable gaming days, and remitted the portion due to the Organization in accordance with NH Lottery regulations regarding charitable gaming activities. The "gaming expenses" reported on this Form 990, Schedule G, therefore is only the Organization's nominal filing and administrative costs related to these arrangements. The base for CEO's compensation is compared with other nonprofit CEOs, reviewed by legal counsel, and approved by the Board of Directors prior to agreement to ensure reasonableness. The President and CEO is responsible for determining and reviewing the compensation of employees and officers that report directly back to the CEO.
