Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 N/A PUSH Ministry exercised ordinary business care and prudence, but we were fundamentally unable to file our Form 990-EZ by the deadline due to an extreme and unexpected financial crisis that threatened the immediate closure of our organization. During this period, our funding dropped to a level where we could no longer sustain our administrative operations. To prevent the immediate displacement of the 28 vulnerable individuals in our affordable housing program, and to ensure we could fulfill our rehabilitation grant commitments to 6 local senior citizens relying on us to age in place safely, our governing board was forced to redirect 100% of our minimal remaining resources and personnel time to triage basic program survival. This crisis unfortunately resulted in the total loss of the administrative capacity necessary to gather our financial records and prepare the return by the deadline. How We Responded: As soon as we stabilized the immediate threat to the residents and seniors relying on us, our volunteer board stepped in to assume administrative duties. We dedicated ourselves to reconstructing our financial records from this chaotic period and worked diligently to prepare and file the required return as quickly as humanly possible. Steps Taken to Prevent Recurrence: We take our compliance obligations very seriously and recognize that filing must remain a priority regardless of our financial standing. To ensure this does not happen in the future, we have implemented the following procedures: We have appointed a dedicated volunteer Compliance Officer on our Board of Directors whose sole responsibility is tracking and enforcing IRS and state filing deadlines. We have simplified our internal accounting processes so that records can be easily maintained and compiled by volunteer board members in the event of future staffing or funding shortages. We respectfully request that the late filing penalties be abated, as our failure to file was the direct result of prioritizing the shelter, safety, and survival of our most vulnerable beneficiaries during an existential crisis for our ministry.
