It is our hope that our partners and stakeholders at all levels of government understand the impact of the YMCA of Central Ohio. In addition, we need support from our government partners to grow and sustain that impact. Tony Collins had 44 meetings and tours with key government stakeholders, including Columbus City Councilmembers, Mayor of Columbus, Franklin County Commissioners, Ohio State House Representatives, and Ohio State Senators. These meetings and tours were focused on sharing the YMCA of Central Ohio's impact throughout the region, advocating for current legislation per the Ohio Alliance of YMCA's, and advocating for sustained funding or special projects for support. It is estimated that 88 hours were spent in these meetings. In addition, phone calls and letters were sent to Legislators to advocate for funding across SPARK, child care and drowning prevention, with an estimated 12.5 hours spent on this budget advocacy. Becky Ciminillo serves as a member of the Advocacy Committee on the Board of the Ohio Association for Child Care Providers (OACCP) and spoke with and sent letters to state legislators about the need to increase funding to support child care professionals as well as child care accessibility, affordability and quality for families. For example, she advocated for the state budget recommendations for more child care provider support like higher reimbursement rates for publicly funded child care, grants to support center viability, quality and higher wages for Ohio's child care professionals. The amount of time spent on OACCP activities in 2025 was 50 hours. Becky also served on the Early Care and Ed/School Age Licensing Stakeholder Workgroup for the new Department of Children & Youth. The focus group reviewed each state licensing child care licensing rule and advocated for changes to the rules on behalf of providers. The amount of time spent on the focus group advocacy in 2025 was 100 hours. Bobbi Shannon participated in committee work around health initiatives, healthy standards and professional development for Ohio's early childhood participants and professionals.
