In Fiscal Year 2025, the Food Bank lobbyist made several trips to Washington D.C. and Springfield and hosted and attended in-district events. In March, the Food Bank lobbyist attended the Feeding America fly-in, where they met with members of congress and their staff about the impact of USDA program cuts on the food bank and our neighbors. They also attended a Springfield lobby day with our Feeding Illinois members to advocate for legislation to expand SNAP benefits. On May, 4 Food Bank members attended the Anti-Hunger Policy Conference in Washington D.C. where they met with members of congress and their staff about opposing potential cuts to SNAP benefits. In October, we hosted a press conference to address military hunger at one of our agencies with a congressman and several members of the Illinois general assembly. Throughout the year, the Food Bank hosted members of congress and the Illinois general assembly at the Food Bank and joined them at external events to discuss the impact of federal cuts to SNAP and nutrition programs to the food bank and the neighbors we serve. The Food Bank sends monthly Advocacy Alerts to internal and external stakeholders with updates on our advocacy activities and encouraging them to support our policy priorities.
