ReadyKids uses an accrual based accounting system, which recognizes multi-year gifts in the years they were received. The current year financials reflect an environment where two multi year gifts were expiring simultaneously, resulting in a small deficit. This is offset by corresponding surpluses in prior years where the gifts were recognized. Over the last 5 years, ReadyKids has run a small surplus of roughly $128,000. Growing Minds improves the quality of early childhood care and preschool settings by offering professional development, coaching, training and support to early childhood teachers and program leaders. Teen Counseling provides individual and family counseling to foster positive, nurturing family relationships and to ensure that teens are safe and healthy. Community Engagement organizes community events, partners with local organizations to advance participant wellbeing, and attends local events on behalf of ReadyKids. Engaged Fathers and Men mentors dads to build more secure relationships with their kids. Every other year a salary study is undertaken where salary is compared to like organizations, similar job postings, and other methods as necessary. By making this move, it allowed the program to meet new participants and create new opportunities to improve programming. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Form 990 is completed by the Director of Finance & Operations after the Board of Directors accepts the audited financial statements for the prior fiscal year. The draft version of the 990 is reviewed by the Executive Director, and then the Finance and Audit Committee, before being presented to the Board of Directors for final approval. After approval, it is then submitted to the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The Board of Directors' by-laws outline the conflict of interest policy. The policy is distributed and reviewed with the members during orientation at the beginning of the fiscal year. Each Board Member signs a written contract that includes a commitment to follow the policy in place. Members are asked to recuse from discussions where a conflict may exist. The Committee compares salaries for all staff members to similar organizations, job openings, and all other available information. Salaries are then adjusted as needed to meet market level for each member of the organization. The Committee presents a recommendation to the Board of Directors, which then reviews and sets salary for the Executive Director. Form 990, Part XI, Line 9 A vehicle wholly owned by the organization was rendered totaled. The organization wrote off the vehicle as such, taking the full loss in the fiscal year. ReadyKids filed an extension form 8868, which was approved on 7/2/25, granting a 6 month extension.
