<ExplanationTxt>Too Young to Wed follows the Financial Accounting Standards Board Accounting Standards Codification, which provides guidance on accounting for uncertainty in income taxes recognized in Too Young to Weds financial statements, if any. At year end, Too Young to Wed had no unrecognized tax benefits related to uncertain tax positions in its information return that would qualify for either recognition or disclosure in its financial statements. Too Young to Weds policy would be to recognize interest and penalties on tax positions related to its unrecognized tax benefits in income tax expense in the financial statements. Through year end, there have been no matters that would have resulted in an accrual for interest and/or penalties. Generally, the tax years before 2017 are no longer subject to examination by federal, state, or local taxing authorities.</ExplanationTxt>

<ExplanationTxt>Program Service Accomplishments:Too Young to Wed (TYTW) works to end child marriage and empower adolescent girls through education, protection, and livelihoods programs in some of the worlds most restrictive and fragile environments. Across all programs in 2024, TYTW directly served approximately 28,000 individuals through expanded education, protection, livelihoods, and community-based sensitization initiatives across the US, Kenya, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan and Nepal, while engaging thousands of family and community members in prevention and advocacy efforts. Over the 2024 program year, TYTW both deepened its direct-service programs and increased its advocacy reach, ensuring stronger support for the girls and families at the center of its work. Through household engagement, elder and government dialogues, and structured awareness sessions, an estimated 90,000 to 100,000 additional community members were reached as secondary beneficiaries. Global advocacy and media efforts, including coverage in The Washington Post, Voice of America, and the U.S. Governments Global Strategy to Empower Adolescent Girls, amplified TYTWs mission to tens of millions worldwide and reinforced policy and public action to end child marriage and protect girls rights. TYTW sustained a program success rate of more than 95% in the worlds most difficult places.Afghanistan Education and Protection:TYTW reached approximately 11,000 direct beneficiaries across Afghanistan through education, protection, and household-support programs during the reporting period. After the Taliban banned all girls past the sixth grade from attending school, our thirty-two covert learning centers offered a rare lifeline by providing 446,697 learning days for 2,595 secondary-age girls taught by 118 female educators. The education ban has left millions of Afghan girls isolated, at higher risk of child marriage, and without safe places to learn. The covert centers function as both classrooms and protection spaces, allowing girls to keep studying and maintain critical support networks despite the restrictions. The Parwana initiative, named after a 9-year-old girl who was sold into marriage by her family during a period of severe financial strain, directly supported 889 families (roughly 7,300 vulnerable individuals) and protected 1,323 girls through food distributions, hygiene assistance, livelihood training, and individualized case management. The Parwana initiative plays a critical role in reducing the economic drivers of child marriage by stabilizing households, strengthening caregivers coping capacity, and ensuring girls remain safe within their families. Over the reporting period, two child-marriage attempts were reversed before cohabitation, and there were zero ongoing cases, underscoring the programs effectiveness in preventing harm. Statistical modeling based on provincial baselines indicates a 10 to 15 percent reduction in child-marriage risk among participating householdsan estimated 100 to 200 child marriages averted through targeted protection assistance and family support. Each of the 855 case-managed families engaged extended relatives, neighbors, and community members through discussions and mutual monitoring, extending the programs reach to an estimated 40,000 to 45,000 indirect beneficiaries.Pakistan Refugee Education and Livelihoods:TYTW reached approximately 3,600 direct beneficiaries in Pakistan through education, protection, and livelihood assistance delivered across programs in Peshawar and Karachi. In Peshawar, TYTW enrolled 600 Afghan refugee girls and 300 younger children in accelerated and early-learning centers, providing safe, structured environments for learning at a time when displaced families face extreme instability. Afghan refugees in Pakistan live under constant threat of arrest, deportation, and eviction, with limited access to legal protection, formal employment, or social services. These pressures heighten the risk of child marriage as families struggle to meet basic needs, safeguard their daughters, and navigate an uncertain future. To reduce these risks, TYTW provided livelihood support, food packages, and clean-water access to 160 refugee households in Peshawar, alongside parentteacher meetings, community awareness sessions, and structured family engagement activities. In Karachi, TYTWs program supported refugee children through school readiness and play-based learning, alongside food assistance for 155 households and targeted livelihood support. These services provided additional layers of protection and stability for families experiencing prolonged displacement.Across both locations, 92 percent of supported households reported an improved ability to keep their daughters in school and delay marriage. This combination of education, household support, and community engagement forms a critical protection strategy for refugee girls and helps ensure they are not forced into marriage due to the hardships and insecurity of displacement. Awareness campaigns on disease prevention and girls education, along with exhibitions and word-of-mouth outreach in densely populated refugee communities, extended the programs influence to an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 indirect beneficiaries.Kenya: Learning, Livelihoods, and Child Marriage Prevention in Pastoralist CommunitiesTYTW reached an estimated 4,200 direct beneficiaries in Samburu County through education, livelihoods, protection, and community sensitization programs during the reporting period. This total includes 606 children in TYTW-supported classes and safe spaces, 35 women in livelihood programs, approximately 3,846 household-level beneficiaries, and about 350 elders, mentors, and local officials engaged through structured dialogue and awareness activities. In Samburu, 606 girls and boys participated in safe-space education, leadership mentoring, and scholarship-supported learning that helped protect them from child marriage and the harmful precursor practice of female genital mutilation (FGM). Long distances to school, limited income, and entrenched norms mean many girls would not have the chance to attend school and would instead work full time as shepherds or in agricultural fields. TYTWs work is helping shift this reality. A total of 239 shepherd girls are now enrolled in mainstream school. Of these, 180 enrolled with direct support from TYTW, while 59 enrolled after their parents chose schooling following community engagement. Another 126 shepherd girls participate in part-time classes designed for children who balance herding with learning, and TYTW also supports 54 boys in these classes. In Ngilai, 12 shepherd boys who began in the part-time program progressed into mainstream school at their parents request. These educational efforts are reinforced by womens cooperatives that expanded poultry and small business activities. Thirty-five women participated, and the first round of distribution in June provided 167 chickens and training to mothers of safe-space participants. These activities improved household income and food security during prolonged drought and water shortages. TYTW also provided curriculum-based mentorship, financial literacy sessions, hygiene and sexual and reproductive health education, and life skills programming for 316 girls. During the reporting period, TYTW supported housing, supervision, and structured activities for 98 girls in a crisis shelter over the December 2024 school holidays, a period when the risk of child marriage typically spikes due to girls being out of school. TYTW also invested in community-wide sensitization and capacity building. Across community forums, graduation events, and recurring engagement sessions, approximately 300 to 350 elders, chiefs, religious leaders, mentors, and government officials participated in structured dialogues promoting child protection and girls education. These adults now serve as local advocates and reinforcement points within their communities. Two intervention villages, public graduations, elder and government engagement, and national broadcast coverage through TV47 and radio extended program visibility and messaging to the wider community. An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 community members were indirectly reached through cascading dialogue and national visibility.Together, these interventions reduce pressures that lead to child marriage and give girls in Samburu a genuine chance to continue their education and pursue safer, more stable futures.India and Nepal: Expanding Learning Pathways for Vulnerable ChildrenApproximately 8,400 structured life-skills sessions were provided to girls across Rajasthan. Local education programs supported 627 girls and young women with intensive bridge (alternative programming for out-of-school girls) and secondary-level classes, as well as vocational and marketable-skills training.
