Entertainment expenses are included in the expense reimbursement policy. The policy states that spouse's expenses incurred on business trips are not reimbursable unless specifically authorized by the executive director. Form 990, Part I, Line 1, Description of Organization Mission: Cultivate, promote, and disseminate knowledge and information concerning the medical profession and related subjects Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6 The Society is composed of members of the component societies and others as provided in the Bylaws. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a The Society has direct election of officers and trustees, except for the office of Secretary/Treasurer, which is elected by the Board of Trustees. A slate of nominations for officers and trustees is submitted to all members entitled to vote, as specificed in the Bylaws. Voting is by means of written or electronic ballot. All of the elected officers serve on the Board of Trustees. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7b Governance decisions for the Society are the responsibility of the Board of Trustees, except that amendments to the Constitution must be approved by vote of the members eligible to vote at an annual or special meeting called for the purpose of considering such amendments. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Society electronically provides a copy of the Form 990 to the Board of Trustees subsequent to filing. The Executive Director and Director of Operations review the Form 990 before it is filed. The President of the Society reviews the salary annually and may authorize additional amounts at his or her discretion, which are required to be reported to the Executive Committee of the Board.
