The goal of these programs are to assist and promote the health, growth, care, development and education of children in Alameda County by providing child care for 3,473 children, while their parents continue their employment, education, welfare-to-work activities, are eking employment or permanent housing, incapacitation or child protective services. More than 8,965 parents were counseled in 2024 on their child care options and helped to develop a child care plan by providing referrals to child care programs. Other services are available to families through special programs including parenting classes, playgroups, and family navigation. We also provide on-going training and support to child care providers including 82 workshops and trainings attended by 1,657 providers in 2024. The support we provide to child care providers includes professional development resources and guidance, individualized coaching and technical assistance, on-site visits, and free referrals to their programs. We also provide coaching and training to Alameda County Quality Counts participants. New family child care providers can receive start-up assistance development and business training through our Child Care Initiative Project. These supplemental funds are based on number of children in child care payment assistance programs served by each provider.
