There will be a call for applications which outlines the eligibility of the applicant and all documentation that needs to be provided. Once the call for applications is closed, the Research and Grants Committee will review all applications received for eligibility and completion. There will be 3-5 members of the committee reviewing each application on different areas such as overall impact/scientific merit, candidate, mentor, environmental institutional commitment to candidate, research plan and feasibility. The Research and Grants Committee will make a recommendation for winner to the SMSNA Executive Committee, which is based on the best average score. The SMSNA Executive Committee will give the final approval. Anyone who has a conflict of interest is excused from reviewing/voting in this process.
