Regular monitoring occurs before, during, and after the grant term through predetermined checkpoints written into every disaster recovery subgrant contract. Other Program service accomplishments - 2023/24 In the 2023-24 fiscal year, Habitat for Humanity of Florida achieved significant milestones across advocacy, disaster resilience, capacity building and community engagement. The organization hosted its inaugural state lobby day in Tallahassee, raising awareness and educating legislators regarding the affordable housing crisis in our state. Recognizing the growing need for disaster preparedness, Habitat Florida established a disaster resilience committee and launched the fortified construction pilot program to enhance disaster-resilient building practices. Additionally, they secured grants to support recovery efforts after hurricanes Ian and Idalia. The organization focused on capacity building by attending nine conferences and supporting 1336 families through new home builds, repairs and rehabilitations, making Florida the top-performing state in the Habitat network. Educational initiatives thrived, with the popular Learning Series webinars attracting nearly 300 participants, and the Sunshine State Source newsletter expanding its reach to 150 subscribers. Habitat Florida also strengthened its financial sustainability, closing the fiscal year with $860,311 in net assets despite a significant prior year adjustment for disaster-related grants. These accomplishments demonstrate the organizations dedication to advocacy, disaster resilience, community building, and long-term organizational growth, laying a strong foundation for continuing success in the years to come.
