Part VI, Line 11b Form 990 for 2024 was prepared by the Treasurer and reviewed by the Executive Committee; members of the board had the option to participate. Feedback from officers was given, and updates were made as necessary. After making the necessary edits, the committee signed off and approved the document. Then it was submitted on Simple990.com. Part VI, Line 12c If a conflict of interest may arise related to a voting decision, the person with the conflict must disclose the conflict of interest and recuse themselves from voting. Part VI, Line 19 Many of the organization's key documents were created before 2024. If a document needed to be created or updated, the governance committee would create it, and together with the executive committee, would edit it. Then it was presented to the board for a vote of approval. Any staff or director could participate in the governance committee, yet only officers can participate in the executive committee. This allowed for checks and balances between leadership and executive input. To whom it may concern, To save costs, our organization decided not to pay a tax preparer this year. As a small nonprofit, our volunteer team worked diligently to compile and complete the information; however, due to a clerical error, we mistakenly marked the deadline as June 15th instead of May 15th. Once we realized the oversight, we promptly submitted the return. On June 30th, we realized the submission was rejected as it was missing a Schedule J, which is now complete. We respectfully request that the IRS consider this reasonable cause for the delay and abate any related penalties. We have now implemented additional steps to prevent future delays, such as having an April filing target for 2026.
