Once a year, board members are instructed to re-sign and to declare if any new conflicts of interest have occurred or will arise. Directors are also instructed to declare a conflict of interest should it arise at any time. When such a conflict does arise, a board level committee is developed to address the conflict, and the director involved is asked to excuse him/herself from the decision. Staff members must also sign a conflict-of-interest policy. All similar policies apply, but conflicts are reported to their immediate supervisor. supervisors bring any conflicts to the attention of the CEO of the foundation, or the board if a conflict arises with the CEO.
