Contributions to the Organization qualify for the charitable contribution deduction pursuant to IRS Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and has been classified as an organization that is a public charity under Section 509(a)(1). The tax-exempt purpose of the Organization and the nature in which it operates is described above. Management believes the Organization continues to operate in compliance with its tax-exempt purpose. Thus, no provision for income tax has been provided for in the financial statements. The Organization has adopted the requirements for accounting for uncertain tax positions and management has determined that the Organization was not required to record a liability related to uncertain tax positions as of June 30, 2024. The Organization's annual information and income tax returns filed with the federal and state governments are subject to examination generally for three years after they are filed. When a youth is enrolled in our program and an accredited secondary education program, they use their funds for school related purchases. We either purchase the items directly for the youth from a store, reimburse the youth if they make an educational purchase, or send them small amounts of their funds directly with the approval of their mentor that the purchase is education related. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The Executive Director sends the completed 990 to the Board Chair and Treasurer for their review and signature. The 990 is provided to the entire Board prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The board and key employees are consulted before hiring vendors to ensure there is no conflict of interest. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The Board of Directors reviews and approves the compensation. The Board of Directors uses comparability data to determine that compensation is just and reasonable to the organization.
