Overall, the Tenants Union has over 400 members composed of tenants, allies, and community members who educate, lead, and develop one another's skills to improve the housing landscape throughout Washington state. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a According to the organizational bylaws, Board members shall be individually elected by a 2/3 vote of the general membership present and eligible to vote at the Annual Membership Meeting, where a quorum participates in the vote. In addition, a Board Member may be removed for any act of disloyalty or disruption which damages the effectiveness of the organization, by a 2/3 vote of the members present at a meeting in which a quorum of the membership votes. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b Amendments of the organizational bylaws requires a 2/3 vote of the Tenants Union members present at the Annual (or General) Membership Meeting, where a quorum is present. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The Form 990 was reviewed in detail and approved by the Tenants Union's Board of Directors. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Regular review and updates of the personnel policy and organization bylaws, which describes the process for addressing a conflict of interest. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 The TU does not currently make its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the general public. It does, however, make these documents available to potential donors and other funding sources upon request.
