Because of the increased reach provided by the internet, Family Literacy Centers has been able to extend their services to many other parts of the world. These learning centers have been successfully organized in a variety of facilities, including public libraries, senior centers, correctional facilities, public assistance centers, homes, and churches. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Family Literacy Centers now focuses on working with individuals and families in home settings using web-based resources rather than within other brick and mortar facilities. Each center (whether on-line or in a physical center) assists families and individuals to effectively read, write, and communicate in English and to become successful in mathematics with one- to-one tutoring assistance from trained volunteers, teachers, and parents.
