(The Foundation) was incorporated on April 5, 1994 as a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation, to establish and operate a central program to recruit, attract, educate and train resident physicians. In conjunction with an accredited medical school and hospital facilities located in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Foundation serves as a centralized intermediary between the accredited medical school and the various hospitals that provide the facilities for hands on training. EBFGME directly supports the public health and medical education mission of its supported organizations by increasing the number of qualified medical professionals in the Bay Area. As required by the national accrediting body, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), EBFGME serves as the single employer for trainees in the UCSF-East Bay Surgery Program through their full 5-7 year residency period. The Organization has evaluated its current tax positions as of June 30, 2024 and is not aware of any significant uncertain tax positions for which a reserve would be necessary. The Organizations tax returns are generally subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities for three and four years, respectively, after they are filed. Furthermore, while appointed to serve on the board of the Foundation by related organizations, directors are not compensated by the related organizations for the services they provide to the Foundation.
