Most of the schools faculty returned for the 2023-24 school year even though the schools operations were transitioned from the Archdiocese to the new RKA nonprofit. Most of Archdiocese staff did not return and new staff were hired including a new President a new registrar and new admissions and office staff. Rosati-Kain Academy offers a robust menu of STEM classes for its 125 students including 44 sections of STEM over two semesters. 12 of those STEM sections are eligible for advanced placement or college credit. Interested students have access to Saint Louis Universitys Adventures in Medicine and Science programs. Rosati-Kain Academy is the only all-girls Catholic high school within the City of St. Louis. Our current 125 students come from more than 40 zip codes throughout the St. Louis region; most come from St. Louis City South St. Louis County North St. Louis County and Illinois. Our 2023-24 stated tuition of $13,900 was one of the most affordable of any private all-girls high school in the region yet 75% of our students receive financial aid and pay an average of $6,600 per student. And while our full tuition was $13,900 the true cost of one full year of education at RKA for one student was approximately $26,000. Our school is one of the most if not the most racially and culturally diverse high schools in the region our students are 39% White 38% Black 11% multiracial 6% other and 5% Asian; 14.4% of our students are Hispanic. While most speak English it is common to hear multiple languages spoken in the hallways and at school events. We welcome students from other faiths and celebrate all world religions. Part III General | Explanation:| OUR HISTORY: In 1947 Rosati-Kain was the first girls high school in the region to integrate seven years before Brown v. Board of Education. In classrooms with a student to teacher ratio of 8:1 our curriculum is challenging and engaging. Despite socio-economic and cultural barriers the schools graduation rate has historically been 100%. In May 2024 Rosati-Kain Academys first graduating class of 43 students preserved that tradition. Our 43 graduating students are attending first-rate colleges and universities including Missouri University of Science & Technology Rochester Institute of Technology Saint Louis University University of Chicago Howard University Hanover University Concordia University Chicago Texas Southern University University of North Carolina and many other amazing post-secondary institutions. Our 2024 graduating seniors each completed 100+ hours of community service and collectively received awards totaling approximately $7.7 million in college tuition grants and scholarships. 40% of our 2024 graduates are the first in their families to attend college. The school was founded in 1911 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame and the Sisters of St. Joseph. Rosati- Kain has a rich tradition of academic excellence while serving as a pillar for social justice. Despite more than a century of academic excellence in September of 2022 the Archdiocese of St. Louis announced that it was closing the school. Many believed the motive was to sell the property because of its lucrative location in the heart of the Central West End. Several hundred alumnae and parents of current students embarked on a plan to keep the school open as an independent Catholic high school for girls and they won the fight. Rosati-Kain Academy a 501c3 Missouri nonprofit corporation formed in October 2022 began operating the school in its historic location on July 1 2023 pursuant to a lease of the property with the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
