Once a fund agreement is in place with an organization, the Foundation will receive funds from the organization and invest the funds. Use of the invested funds is subject to the same policies as other funds at the Foundation, such as investment, grant-writing, and spending policies. Part V, Line 4: The Foundation's endowment consists of a series of individual funds established for a variety of purposes. Its endowment consists exclusively of board-designated and donor-restricted funds. As required by generally accepted accounting principles, net assets associated with endowment funds are classified and reported based on the existence or absence of donor imposed restrictions. Part X, Line 2: The Foundation is organized as a Kansas nonprofit corporation and has been recognized by the IRS as exempt from federal income taxes under IRC Section 501(a) as an organization described in IRC Section 501(c)(3). Further, the Foundation qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under IRC Sections 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) and (viii) and has been determined not to be a private foundation under IRC Sections 509(a)(1). The Foundation is annually required to file a Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax (Form 990) with the IRS.
