Restoration activities that have occurred at the Wetland Park include the construction of bioretention ponds, extensive planting of native trees and plants, and installation of a permeable walking path. Sankofa CDC collaborates with K-8 schools to co-facilitate STEM education workshops at the Wetland Park that teach students the importance of wetlands habitat restoration and ignite their learning. The teaching kitchen is co-led by the Xavier University Health & Wellness Center and offers healthy cooking and nutrition education classes. The Fresh Start Market program also raises awareness of food system deficits and opportunities to advocate for effective policy and programs.
