As a result of successful strategies, a focused policy agenda and sharp accountability tools, we are building Maine's environmental movement into a powerful force. Holding Maine's public officials accountable: Since 1986, MCV's annual Environmental Scorecard has provided Maine people with factual information about the most important environmental legislation considered in Maine's State House. Our Scorecard has become the standard bearer to determine the environmental record of all members of the Maine State Legislature. We score the votes on the most important issues of the year, including energy, climate change, clean water, public health, and land conservation. In 2023, we distributed the Environmental Scorecard in both a print and online format.Educating the public: Our virtual Lunch & Learn Series is grounded in our commitment to continuous learning as the foundation for meaningful civic engagement and transformational change. In 2023, our weekly Lunch & Learns featured engaging conversations on a wide range of topics, from environmental and climate priorities to innovative technologies and intersectional movements for change. Democracy for All: The health of Maine's environment and their communities and the health of the democracy are inextricably linked. Those most impacted by the climate crisis are also facing the greatest barriers to voting. Achieving meaningful progress on climate change will be more difficult without an equitable democracy that works for everyone.
