This past year PA achieved two murals, one for the LIRR Jamaica Station in collaboration with the Queens based artist Omar Lawson, and another for a Mother's Day celebration in Queensbridge Park, Bronx with the artist Victor Saint-Hilaire supervising 16 student participants 32918 113600 0 Artist Support - The Divine Fellowship, made possible with the support of Ford Foundation supports eight selected QTBIPOC artists working through social impact projects each year, through stipends, a residency program upstate, retreats, and access to the tools and resources of our shop. Beyond this fellowship, PA supported over ten other artists across their respective creative and community based projects. This funding is spread over two fiscal years 2888 0 0 Media Production & radio Wash Radio is a conduit for music, discussion, performance, experimentation, meditation and catharsis for our neighbors near and far. Through this boundlessness we can foster the space for collective care and continue the legacy of fortifying the counter-cultural archive. Our community radio launched eight shows this past year. The funds are held in a separate bank account and required reporting of expenses is submitted to the funder. All of the grants to the artist were under $1000.00 and spread over 2 fiscal periods. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2 PA was founded on the heels of Covid with crowdfunding donations for the most part. The 501c(3) was created to service the art and LGBTQ community and recognized the need for the legal organization as the funding was coming in. This was set up with close relationships based on the experience of 2 family members of the Founder who were available to help create and sit on the Board. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 Public Assistants has 8 Board Members who are required to meet monthly for oversight and review, vote by quorum. The only employee is the Founder/Director whose salary was approved by the Board Executive Committee, and whose salary is a token payment because much of the work performed is volunteered. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 9 The President, Secretary and Treasurer are not stationed at the Public Assistants working facility. They do not govern on a daily operational basis. The only member/ "key employee" is the Founder/Director who is there daily. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The 990 is reviewed by the President after completion. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Public Assistants Inc has not yet made the 990 Tax Report public. Form 990, Part IX, Line 11g Fees are paid to individual artist and contractors as studio assistants to support mural programs, artist residency, etc. and stipends to students selected to participate. The bookkeeper for PA volunteers her work because funding is very low and Public Assistants Inc. relies on much volunteer help. The bookkeepers spouse has been under in-home Hospice care and passed away late Feb. She has been through a lot but was determined to follow up and follow through, albeit late.
