JI unifies three legislative initiatives: The El Paso County Early Childhood Council Alliance for Kids (AFK) , the 4th Judicial District's Juvenile Services Planning Committee (JSPC), and the county's Interagency Oversight Group (IOG). In 2021, the JSPC and IOG merged efforts through the REACH Committee. Accordingly, JI programs collaborate with more than 40 community leaders including agencies, schools, government, youth and families. HIGHLIGHTS: FY23 was a change year for Joint Initiatives as we: hElped launch Colorado's new Universal Pre-Kingergarden program as the Local Coordinating Organization, or LCO, for El Paso County. Received seed funding to open a juvenile assessment center that will include emergency shelter for youth primarily ages 10-17, expanded the number of young people supported by our Pathways multi-agency wrap-around services. Laid the foundation to spur family empowerment and equity across our community's systems.
