The Houston Zoo is responsible for the health and welfare of its animal and horticultural collections. The Houston Zoo maintains records of its collections and any exchanges with other organizations. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the President, and the curatorial staff, collections continue to be cared for, exhibited, and expanded. In 2023 and 2022, the Houston Zoo expended approximately $45,000 and $153,000, respectively, to expand its collections. Each year the Zoo asks its directors and officers to complete and file a form with the Zoo to meet this requirement.
