Their grants were approved.A Wellbeing Fund grant to Helen Leung/La Mas was approved via electronic vote in November 2023. Our Racial Equity in Homelessness initiative aims to rectify this by promoting leaders with lived experience to executive positions, facilitating equity-focused training for C-Suite leaders, and offering stipends and wellbeing supports to workers in the homeless response sector.In 2023, the initiative directly impacted 354 workers and 26 organizations with a total of $1,534,966 distributed, enhancing their capacity to serve effectively and sparking crucial conversations on sustainable workforce practices. Our fellowships have already seen participants advance into significant leadership roles, such as positions within the LAs public sector, nonprofit organizations, and foundations.Our five-week Community Care and the Workplace program, offered four times in 2023 with 59 participants, addresses disconnection, burnout, and unprocessed grief among workers, especially BIPOC workers.The Wellbeing Series, offered 10 times in 2023 with over 300 attendees, provides monthly remote workshops introducing diverse healing modalities. These sessions encourage personal rest, renewal, and connection, equipping workers with practical tools and discussions to sustain them in their roles.Additionally, the Living Wage Report released in partnership with The RAND Corporation highlighted the wage discrepancies in the sector, advocating for systemic funding changes to ensure workers earn a living wage. FORM 990, PART III, 4B, DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM SERVICES SJPLA's Community Building & Engagement initiative seeks to create a robust network of informed and motivated changemakers though high-impact experiences include participatory grantmaking, anti-racism trainings, and our Fast Pitch program. In 2023, SJPLA engaged 154 participants in customized workplace trainings and collaborated with LA2050 to allocate over $2.5 million to 42 local organizations. Our Liberatory Learning courses engaged over 100 participants to develop their leadership muscles and anti-racist learning. FORM 990, PART III, 4C, DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM SERVICES The Systems Change Fellowship at SJPLA, for leaders with lived experience of systemic injustices offers support in areas such as organizational planning, communications, and growing their community of supporters, tailored to the leaders' needs. We supported 8 emerging initiatives, with notable progress in addressing pressing social issues. The Fast Pitch program delivered 10 weeks of intensive training, culminating in a public showcase where participants shared their work with over 100 community members. Since the program began in 2008, Fast Pitch alumni have raised over $4.5M that they attribute to their Fast Pitch experience. In addition, the program has been replicated by 19 other organizations in the U.S. and Canada.
