We help grandparents and other relatives raise children with two core programs: an enhanced kinship navigator program, that serves kinship families who are caring for children both inside and outside the child welfare system, and a child welfare training program, serving caregivers of children in foster care. We have offices in Las Vegas and Reno, and offer virtual support in every county of the state. In 2023 Foster Kinship provided over 6,000 child welfare training services to 1500 kinship caregivers caring for children in the custody of Nevada Child Welfare agencies. Services are free and require a referral from the child welfare agency. All services are available in English and Spanish and are delivered by kinship peer-professionals who understand the challenges and opportunities of kinship care. Enhanced services build upon the core work and include a childcare/repsite program, kinship resource/donation center, and the Kinship Training Institute. All services are free and available in English and Spanish, delivered by kinship peer-professionals who understand the challenges and opportunities of kinship care. In 2023 Foster Kinship provided over 39,000 kinship navigator services to 2,877 kinship families. The goal of all services, regardless of the child's involvement with the child welfare system, is to stabilize the child with kin and prevent entry into the foster care system to live with strangers or congregate care. Services were provided out of the Las Vegas and Reno offices and by virtual case management in 36 NV cities.
