Part IV, Line 2b: The organization acts as a trustee for funds transferred from the University of North Dakota and another tax-exempt organization for investment management and administrative purposes. The funds are invested along with the organization's portfolio and offset by a liability to the organizations. The funds are to be distributed back to these organizations as they request them. Part V, Line 4: The Organization's endowment consists of over 1,900 individual funds established for a variety of purposes. Its endowment includes both donor-restricted endowment funds and funds designated by the board to function as endowments. The long term goal of the endowment funds is to achieve a rate of growth sufficient to meet the Organization's spending needs, while maintaining the inflation-adjusted principal of the endowment funds. Part X, Line 2: The Organization follows the accounting standards for contingencies in evaluating uncertain tax positions.
