In 2023, CalMedForce funding awarded the largest number of residencies and resident positions to date, to sustain, retain and expand GME in primary care and emergency medicine. The Audio Digest Foundation (ADF) established the endowment by contributing $200,500 in 1989. The contributions are to remain intact as an endowment and only amounts earned on investments may be expended by PHC. During 2004 the entity encouraged physicians to donate settlement checks to which they were entitled from a lawsuit brought against CIGNA. The solicitation indicated that all funds donated would become part of the Endowment Fund. In 2019, funds that were originally contributed in 1989 were released from restriction. The release provision was made in writing by the last President and CEO of ADF before its dissolution. Those funds were reclassified to net assets without donor restrictions. Medical Student Fund was established by a donor in 1983. Principal contributions of $110,911 are to remain intact as a donor restricted endowment and only the amounts earned as interest income may be expended by PHC for medical student grants.
