Other endowments are intended for a variety of uses designated by donors. A number of these endowments make an annual distribution to the Jewish Federations of North America Annual Campaign which supports various Jewish causes. Other endowment funds support a special purpose or field of interest with a specific philanthropic mission. Part X, Line 2: The Foundation follows Financial Accounting Standards Board ("FASB") guidance for how uncertain tax positions should be recognized, measured, disclosed and presented in the financial statements. Grants from donor-advised funds & donor-designated permanent endowment funds are made to recommended or designated organizations only upon receipt of information that includes verification of Sec. 501(c)(3) status, a mission statement, and current financial information. Additionally, RJF staff will check organizations against 1) IRS Publication 78 and the IRS BMF extract to ensure that the organization has not had its public charity status revoked or suspended, and 2) US Department of Treasury's list of suspected terrorists organizations. Recipients of grants must agree that the grant does not represent the payment or satisfaction of any legally enforceable obligation, and that no material benefit or privilege is provided, in return for the grant, to any person or entity. Several permanent endowments and the Genesis Fund require application for grants. These grants are made to eligible organizations for a specific purpose and the recipient organization must sign an agreement stating that the funds will be used for that purpose. The grantee must submit to the Foundation an "Evaluation of Approved Grants" form, along with proposed & actual budget schedules, within 60 days of completion of a project and no later than 12 months from the date the grant was awarded. The Foundation reserves the right to examine the progress of any grant funded and to cease making payments or require that the recipient return any portion, or the entire grant, if and when appropriate.
