Percentage of Financial Support: The NAST Foundation has consistently received over 25% of its support from the public in the preceding two years, a figure that closely approaches the 33.3% requirement. In prior years, the foundation exceeded the 33.3% requirement, only recently falling under that level due to the Wells Fargo funding to support financial literacy and the ABLE today initiative. We expect to reverse this trend in FY25 with the changes discussed in #4 below and anticipate our public support percentage to exceed 50% for this fiscal year. This sustained level of public backing underscores the Foundation's diverse sources of support, reflecting a strong connection to the community it serves.2. Representative Governing Body: The Foundation's board comprises primarily elected public officials who represent the broad interests of the public. This composition ensures that the Foundation's governance structure is reflective of the community it serves, guaranteeing that decisions are made with a comprehensive understanding of public needs and priorities.3. Availability of Public Facilities or Services: Central to its mission, the NAST Foundation actively produces research projects, develops online resources, tools and websites, and offers various education resources that are easily accessible by the general public. Attraction of Public Support: Looking forward to fiscal year 2025, the Foundation is in the process of establishing a membership program aimed at generating membership dues that are expected to generate more than one million in annual revenue. These funds will be sourced from a diverse range of public organizations, including governments and businesses, thereby expanding the Foundation's support base significantly. In addition, the Foundation has been determined by the Internal Revenue Service not to be private foundations within the context of Section 509(a) of the Code. Accounting principles generally accepted in the United States of America require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the Association and recognize a tax liability if the Foundation has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by various federal and state taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the Foundation, and has concluded that as of June 30, 2024 there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability or disclosure in the accompanying consolidated financial statements. The Foundation is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. The Foundation has filed their respective federal income tax returns for periods through June 30, 2023.
