<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Theory of Change and Program Development: In 2023, we focused on developing our Theory of Change and establishing core programs in collaboration with tribal members. This foundational work will guide our future activities and ensure alignment with tribal priorities. 1) Vision: We envision a future where the Muwekma people: Have reestablished our sacred connection to our ancestral land and utas warep (steward the land-base where we have always been). Live on land with hiswee síi (clean water), clean air, and healthy soil. Awaken, practice, and protect our 'innu heeme (culture), noonokma (languages), and yissa (dancing) on the land. Honor mak muwekmakus (our ancestors) through mak 'ukseeree (our work). Are tasukne (recognized as sovereign) and treated with dignity and 'uni (respect). Challenge: For generations, Muwekma tribal members have faced disenfranchisement, marginalization, and housing and economic instability, furthering historic trauma and cultural genocide. To achieve our vision of 'iskaanesin mak Muwekma (resilience of our People), resources and time are needed to enable strategic partnerships with those who have the desire and resources to support our collective vision. Core Strategies: Provide resources and opportunities to the Tribe and tribal members which support resilience, including stipends, employment, education, connection, land access, and tribal land ownership. Establish collaborations with agencies, foundations, and community members to secure resources that advance the Muwekma Tribe's vision and goals. Based on this Theory of Change, we developed three core programs: Cultural Revitalization: Objective: Enhance the connection of tribal members to their culture, tribe, history, and each other. Activities planned: Facilitate transmission of Chochenyo language skills, Support traditional dance practices, Provide resources for regalia making, Preserve and teach traditional songs Community Education: Objective: Increase public awareness and appreciation of Muwekma history, current priorities, and opportunities for support. Activities planned: Collaborate with institutions for presentations and land acknowledgements, Establish and maintain Muwekma native gardens, Organize exhibits and cultural events, Implement flag-raising ceremonies and space renaming initiatives Tribal Village and Land Access: Objective: Secure ancestral lands for a tribal village and establish land access agreements. Activities planned: Identify and secure a site for a tribal village with essential infrastructure, Negotiate land access agreements within tribal territory, Develop protocols for cultural activities, environmental stewardship, and resource gathering, Secure access to land and spaces for gatherings, ceremonies, and cultural practices These programs, developed through collaborative efforts with tribal members, provide a comprehensive framework for advancing the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe's goals of resilience, cultural revitalization, and land stewardship. They will guide our future activities and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with tribal priorities and maximizing our impact.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>
