This portion of the collection was valued at $2,621,000 at the time it was gifted to the University in 2000. The Gillespie Museum of Minerals is Stetson University's earth science collection museum. The museum's collection of 20,000 mineral, rock, and fossil specimens is valued at $402,431. The museum has developed over the past fifty years into a center for environmental education. Exhibits and Displays include geology, native Florida ecosystems and plant landscapes, minerals and mining, and fluorescent rocks.
