All in-kind food donations received directly or indirectly support food procurement and distribution to community pods. Donated food is recognized as in-kind revenue at the estimated fair value when received. Donated food is valued at either the donor's fair value estimate, if available and reasonable, or estimated fair value using the estimated fair value of one pound of donated food product at the national level. For the year ended June 30, 2023, that estimated value for one pound of donated food was $1.79 per pound. This value was determined based upon a study performed by Feeding America which involves a review of 31 product categories and wholesale prices using wholesaler's pricing catalogs. In-kind donated food revenue is recorded when the donation is received and expensed when distributed. All in-kind food donations received by ACT are used in program activities. ACT does not sell any in-kind food donations.
