First of all we had some unexpected complications associated with our filing this year. Conjointly to us voting in an all new board for our organization the CPA who we employed previous years moved states and ultimately stopped responding to our communications around the time we were expecting her to take care of our 990-PF filing so we were a little bit delayed already when we realized we might in the absence of finding a new accountant have to learn to take care of it ourselves. Secondly our board consisting of volunteers without professional accounting credentials in researching how to file ourselves we failed to observe that the rules had recently changed and that the paper form would no longer be accepted this year. We therefore mistakenly filed the paper form. Thirdly when the IRS reply letter LTR 2697C to our mailed form was sent December 21 2023 I was unfortunately out of the country on a trip and my mail on hold so I was not able to respond to the letter promptly. Subsequently I called the IRS and was able to get instructions on how to file electronically. All this combined has unintentionally resulted in the aggravated delay of our filing for the fiscal year ending in June 30 2023. These problems solved however there is no reason this delay should repeat next year and I therefore ask in advance to have our penalties abated. Respectfully Fjola.
