Facilitated over 40 education and outreach programs, webinars, town hall meetings and workshops throughout the county, with over 1000 community members reached. Weve been in the news too we were featured in The Acorn and the Ojai Valley News, and interviewed by Our Ventura TV and Camarillo CityScene TV, while maintaining our presence on other various print and social media platforms. To increase inclusion and equity in wildfire planning and preparedness, we organized education, outreach and training programs in both English and Spanish. II. Completed over 100 Home Hardening Assessments throughout the county. Home hardening addresses the most vulnerable components of your house with building materials and installation techniques that increase resistance to heat, flame, and ember intrusion that accompany most wildfires. In just a few steps, residents in Ventura County can drastically lower their home's vulnerability to wildfires by scheduling our team to conduct an initial assessment of their homes. III. Equipped 2 homes with retrofits to harden their home against wildfire. In 2022 VRFSC offered opportunities to support qualified Ventura County residents with expenses and work related to fire safety improvements to their home. These retrofits can include upgrading to ember resistant vents, clearing leaf debris, removing hazardous vegetation, and more! We look forward to continuing this program in 2023. IV. In 2022 we continued to update the Ventura Countys Community Wildfire Protection Plan as well as 7 local plans. A CWPP provides a roadmap of actions for communities to address the wildfire threat. Through a collaborative, interactive process, the CWPPs will prioritize fuel reduction activities; and recommend measures that homeowners and others can take to safeguard their communities. V. Provided a 8-hour course for Hired Vendror Incident Safety Awareness. These courses support vendors that contract for service during major wildfire incidents. The courses were taught by Woody Bouska with SURE-FIRE Training, Inc. and there were 35 participants. VI. Ventura Regional Fire Safe Councils Growing Capacity: The Ventura Regional Fire Safe Council provides essential wildfire mitigation and awareness programs that enable Ventura County's resilient and treasured communities to live more safely with wildfire. We are led by a skilled Board of Directors and an active Advisory Board. The Board brings a deep and broad understanding of wildfire mitigation, resources, mapping, local legislators, and content expertise. The staff leadership includes the Executive Director, Director of Programs, Finance and Administrative Manager, and three Wildfire Safety Liaisons with support from over a dozen volunteers and consultants.
