Recipients are selected by the JCIRA FUND Committee upon completing an application form. 7000 0 0 JCIRA provides an English as a Second Language (ESL) program which is open free to the immigrant community, which is primarily Spanish speaking. A professional language instructor is contracted to provide weekly classes to 1o-15 students. 16725 0 0 Through the addition of an Outreach Coordinator position we are able to assist immigrants in our community to access community resources such as public health and medical services and low-income housing assistance and youth activities and to develop relationships with other community organizations. 4340 0 720 JCIRA continued to provide financial and legal support for a family of 2 special needs asylum seekers residing in our community. 1500 0 0 Grants were made to two other immigrant rights groups to support their work which advances our mission. One for $1,000 (WAISN) and one for $500 (No More Deaths). 1348 0 0 Fees for various local youth summer camps were provided for 9 immigrant families. 5158 0 11000 JCIRA sponsored an Afghan evacuee family of 3, providing financial and housing and personal support. The purpose of the FUND is to provide financial support to immigrants and their families for special financial needs, such as legal defense costs, posting bonds, and associated transportation costs; family costs such as, but not limited to, school fees and supplies, medical expenses, housing costs. Immigrants are eligible to apply for grants from the FUNBD if they reside or work in Jefferson or Clallam Counties. Requests for assistance under the FUND may be made through an application form to the FUND committee specifying their need. The FUND Committee votes on each application. Each family may receive a maximum of 2 grants per year for a maximum amount each of $750. 41 32163 0 Schedule I, Part I, Line 2 The Legal Defense and Family Support Fund (FUND) makes financial grants to immigrant families. The purpose of the FUND is to provide financial support to immigrants and their families for (1) Legal costs such as, but not limited to. legal assistance and fees, for applications posing bonds, and transportation costs associated with the above. (2) Family costs such as, but not limited to, school fees and supplies, summer camps, medical expenses, and other issues not related to immigrant status. Immigrants and/or their families are eligible to apply for grants from the FUND if they: (a) reside in or work in Jefferson or Clallam Counties, and (b) need financial assistance to assure and defend their rights as immigrants, or (c) need financial assistance to protect their safety and wellbeing. Requests for assistance under the FUND may be made through an application form to the FUND committee, specifying the need. Subject to approval by the FUND Committee, the Committee may authorize up to two individuals grants per year for a maximum amount per grant up to $750. Once the need for financial assistance is established, through information in the application form, the FUND Committee may request from recipients a brief statement of the ways in which the financial assistance was beneficial to their family, while striving to be non-instrusive into the personal life of recipients.
