Form 990, Part III, 4a-4c Program Service Accomplishments YOUTH DEVELOPMENT 2022 Highlights * We offered opportunities for kids to start a lifetime of healthy activities through youth sports, swimming lessons, and other activities. The Y offers a multitude of activities from youth basketball to gymnastics, and everything in between. There is something for every kid at the YMCA. * We empowered children to make friends, gain confidence, develop skills, and create memories to last a lifetime through our summer day camp program. All campers participated in daily activities, weekly field trips, and a free lunch program. * We prepared children for future success - academically and socially - to enter kindergarten. The Milton YMCA holds Pre-K Counts and the Sunbury YMCA has the Giant Step preschool program. Our before and after-school programs offer academic tutoring as well as teaching the Y's core values of Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty. *In partnership with the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit, we began offering STEM programming at all four Y branches. * We inspired and empowered teens with leadership skills, values and healthy living habits. These teen programs are offered to local kids free of charge. Our Teen Leaders in Mifflinburg collected food for a local Backpack Program, volunteer at a local church serving Thanksgiving dinners, and collected items to fill Christmas stockings for local nursing home residents. * Safe Swim Program. The Safe Swim Program at the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA consists of the Lewisburg School District and Milton School District at the Milton YMCA and Line Mountain School District and Shikellamy School District at the Sunbury YMCA. The Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCAs is teaching every 2nd grader throughout the valley how to be safe in the water. This program is made possible by the generous financial support of the Spreading Antlers Children's Foundation. HEALTHY LIVING 2022 Highlights * GSV YMCA continued to offer members Virtual Group Exercise classes in 2022, but in person classes also resumed. We offered 5982 group exercise classes with 50,014 attendees. * The Sunbury YMCA held their 36th Annual 5K as a virtual race. * We motivated and supported healthier lifestyles by offering programs such as fitness challenges, personal training, fitness classes for all levels and more. The Y is not only a resource for those who wish to stay fit, but it also actively engages in helping those who need the Y's expertise to help them make changes needed to start a healthy lifestyle. * We empowered hundreds of seniors to stay physically and socially active through both land and water-based programs. The Y is proud of our collaborative efforts with the senior community to help keep our senior population healthy, socially engaged, and independent. *The GSV YMCA continued to partner with 2 local hospitals, Geisinger and Evangelical Community Hospital, to manage the Lewisburg YMCA at the Miller Center. * The Lewisburg Y offered Singercise sessions for individuals with Parkinson's. Singercise aims to improve vocal intensity, speech intelligibility, respiration, and swallowing. It can also provide stress reduction as well as reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. *The Lewisburg Y also offers PWR!Moves for people living with Parkinson's Disease. It is designed around the four basic elements of exercise, targeted to help counteract bradykinesia, rigidity, and incoordination. *The Mifflinburg & Lewisburg YMCA's held the Annual Y to Y Challenge, a race that started in Mifflinburg and went 7.5 miles down the Buffalo Valley Rail Trail, ending at the Lewisburg Y. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY 2022 Highlights *Our Y has been listening and responding to our communities' most critical social needs for more than 130 years. Whether developing skills or emotional well-being through education and training, welcoming and connecting diverse demographic populations, and building healthier communities through collaborations, the Y fosters the care and respect all people need and deserve. * The Milton YMCA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) & Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides nutritious meals to children each day. These meals contribute to their wellness, healthy growth, and development. In 2022, approximately 90,000 healthy, well balanced meals and snacks were served. *The Sunbury YMCA food pantry served 738 households in 2021. *The Mifflinburg YMCA food pantry served 699 households in 2021. * We strengthened positive family relationships through family fun nights, family programs, and parent-child programs. With the onset of the "internet generation," the Y's efforts to maintain face-to-face activities for the whole family are making a positive difference in the ability of family members to connect with one another. *The YMCA Arts Center offered various art programs for children and adults. *In partnership with a local hospital, each of our four branches offered monthly blood pressure and blood sugar screenings. * Sunbury YMCA Coat Drive. Each year, the Sunbury YMCA holds a coat drive to help keep our community warm during the winter months. The collection begins in the fall and Steininger's Dry Cleaning cleans all of the donated items. In 2022, we were proud to host the 19th annual event and were able to provide families throughout the Valley with over 1000 warm coats, hats, and gloves.
