The responsiveness of BMMCAC is ensured through the governing charter whereby the sole purpose of the BMMCAC is to support and further the educational and scientific activities and functions of Bates College, buttressed by a 50-year lease of the primary real estate holding in the supporting organization. Additionally, Bates College provides all of the funding and staff to maintain access, management, and supervision of the conservation area held by BMMCAC.
