The purchase and renovation of homes in the north St. Louis city area provide safe stable housing for families but also provide wrap around services for the families. The focus is on involving the community in everything done, which includes employing local contractors for work on the homes. The families rent the homes and attend quarterly seminars that focus on the needs of their family. They also volunteer in the community two to four hours per month. A community coordinator works closely with each family to connect them to other non profit organizations and services best fit for each family. To date, this program has helped employ 113 construction workers at a 78% minority rate.
