Played ATEFs bylaws stipulate that an officer of the Central California Conference of Seventh Day Adventists shall serve as a member of the Archie Tonge Education Fund board. She/he has full access to information, voice and vote when the organization conducts business. This individual also acts as a consultant to the organizations finance committee. The individual is appointed by the CCC of SDA. Part IV, Section E, Line 2a: Identify Supported Orgs. and Explain How Activities Furthered Exempt Pu A scholarship program was established by the Board of the Archie Tonge Education Fund to support Adventist educations goal of encouraging and assisting young people who desire to benefit from a Adventist education but who may not have the financial resources to attend a Christian college or university. Up to five scholarships with a maximum amount of $8,000 annually have been awarded each year. Scholarships are renewable for four years if the recipient remains eligible. Scholarship applications are circulated each year by school officials, submitted to the principals office, evaluated and selected by a committee of school employees, community and board members. The results are evaluated by ATEFs application review committee. Scholarship funds are forwarded to the Adventist college/university which the recipients attends.A second scholarship program has been established to assist Pacific Union College in improving its retention and graduation rates. Funds are paid to Pacific Union College to be used to fund scholarships generally for juniors and seniors who need financial assistance in order to remain qualified to attend the College. Recipients are selected by school officials. Were it not for these programs the participating schools would be burdened with the task of seeking additional funding opportunities in order to achieve their goals. Part IV, Section E, Line 2b: Reasons For The Organization's Position Archie Tonge Education Fund supports the goal of the Seventh Day Adventist of encouraging and assisting young people who desire benefit from an Adventist education. This is done jointly with the Adventist Colleges and Universities. Were it not for the activities of Archie Tonge Education Fund the Adventist colleges and universities would be solely responsible for the encouragement and assistance to these young people.The second program assists Pacific Union College in improving retention and graduation rates. This involves nurturing and supporting students at Pacific Union College.
