<ExplanationTxt>THE PANDEMIC CREATED URGENT CIRCUMSTANCES THAT NON-PROFITS HAD TO RAPIDLY ADAPT TO IN ORDER TO STAY OPEN AND SERVE THEIR CLIENTS IN URGENT NEED. AT THE WTA, OUR TECH CENTER PROVED TO BE A CRITICAL RESOURCE AS MOST OFFICE SPACE IN DC HAD CLOSED DOWN, PROVIDING US SUSTAINED ACCESS TO LARGE AMOUNTS OF COMPUTERS TO REFURBISH JUST WHEN OUR CLIENTS NEEDED THEM MOST. HOWEVER, WE ALSO EXPERIENCED A TREMENDOUS SHORTAGE IN LABOR TO REFURBISH COMPUTERS, AS IT CANNOT BE DONE REMOTELY, HENCE POSED HEALTH RISKS FROM WORKING CLOSELY INDOORS WITH OTHERS. THE WIFE OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR STEPPED UP TO VOLUNTEER HUNDREDS OF HOURS REFURBISHING COMPUTER AFTER THE PANDEMIC STRUCK IN 2020 AS SHE ALREADY LIVED CLOSELY WITH THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, THEN CUT HER HOURS AS A SCHOOL TEACHER IN 2021 TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE WTA AS HEALTH ISSUES REMAINED A CONCERN. IN JANUARY 2022, AS HEALTH ISSUES BECAME LESS URGENT AND VOLUNTEER/STAFF BECAME MORE AVAILABLE, SHE RETURNED FULL TIME AS A TEACHER, SIGNIFICANTLY DISENGAGING WITH THE WTA. SINCE THE WTA STILL DOES NEARLY ALL OF ITS COMPUTER REFURBISHING FROM THE WAREHOUSE / OFFICE COMPLEX SET UP IN THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS HOME, AND THIS TURNED IN TO A VERY CONVENIENT LOCATION FOR VOLUNTEERS AND STAFF TO SERVE, SHE CONTINUES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT, MAINLY IN THE EVENING, CLEANING COMPUTERS, LOADING SOFTWARE, AND LICENSING COMPUTERS. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR PROVIDED A 500 SF OFFICE, 446SF TECH AREA, 466 SF WAREHOUSE, AS WELL AS UTILITIES AND INTERNET TO SERVE AS THE WTA'S COMPUTER REFURBISHING, WAREHOUSING & ACCOUNTING CENTER. PROVIDED AT MUCH LOWER- THAN-MARKET PRICES WITH A CONFLICT OF INTEREST DISCLOSURE PROVIDED WITH THE WTA BOARD OF DIRECTORS.</ExplanationTxt>
