Mitigating Factors: 1 We have endeavored to meet all of our tax deadlines. Last year we filed the 990N early and all of our 109 - NECS and payroll tax filing has been paid on time. 2 The volunteer tax preparer has personally helped over 300 Texas PTA 501c3 organizations complete their 990 tax returns on a timely basis. The majority of them were 990N's I had the perspective that extensions were not required and late filings would not cause significant issues. This prior experience affected my judgement and it will never happen again. 3 We delayed Form 990 this year to allow for an audit of our financial statements and have the 990 reviewed by an external CPA.
