Palisades Village provided 1,458 services to its members in 2022. These services reflect 1,149 volunteer hours and include medical and general transportation, home visits and food deliveries, referrals for home repair and other services, shopping, yard work, technical assistance for computers and mobile phones, household chores such as changing light bulbs and removing and installing screens. The Village also provided 34 hours of professional case management to its members who were experiencing medical or mental health issues. Volunteers also provided support services totaling 4,631 that included providing staff support in the office such as answering telephones and data analysis and planning and executing social and cultural events and the 2022 House Tour. 30288 16270 Events - There were 24 social events in 2022 with 671 attendees and 26 informational programs & author talks with 212 attendees. Book club, storytelling, planner groups and mindful knitting groups totaled 472 participants. Wellness activities including fitness, yoga and tap-dancing classes and a weekly walking group had 841 participants. Some of the events continued to be held or were available on Zoom reflecting the on-going concern about the Covid pandemic. 11169 5673 Community Activities - These activities were open to the community at large and not just reserved for members. These activities included distribution of masks, hand sanitizer and Covid tests free of charge and holding vaccination clinics including transportation if needed. Updates on vaccinations and CDC and DC government guidelines were included in the Village's weekly newsletters. There was also a holiday sing-a-long, participation in the community's 4th of July parade and a shredding event. Full members receive the full range of services provided. Associate members do not receive services but participate in social and other Village events. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a Full members of the Village elect members of the Board of Directors at the annual December meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b Full members review and approve the annual budget for the subsequent fiscal year at the annual December meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8a The secretary of the Board of Directors arranges to have minutes taken at the Board meetings. The minutes are circulated prior to the next board meeting via email and then approved by the Board at its next meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8b Each Board committee is responsible for keeping its own minutes. Committee actions that require Board approval are circulated via email to the Board for action. These actions will then be noted in the minutes of the next Board meeting. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b All members of the Board receive a draft copy of the Form 990 (related schedules are not included) from the Treasurer soliciting their comments and questions. The final version of the Form 990 and related schedules is sent to the Board when it is filed with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 A recommendation for the Executive Director's compensation is made by the Human Resources Committee to the Finance Committee as part of the budget process. Compensation includes not only salary but other benefits including leave. The review process includes comparisons to other Villages in the metropolitan area. The recommended compensation package is then submitted for approval as part of the budget approval process. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 18 A copy of the Form 990 and related schedules is available for review upon request in the Office. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Copies of the governing documents, the Conflicts of Interest annual reports, and monthly financial statements are kept on file in the Office. Financial Statements are distributed to the Board on a regular basis with time allotted during Board meetings for discussion. A summary of the year-end financial statements is included in the spring Annual Report which is mailed to all members and donors. Copies of the Annual Report are also available in the Village office.
