We also supported students' professional development through affiliations with organizations (such as the National Society of Black Engineers NSBE and Society of Women Engineers SWE), offering opportunities to travel and attend professional conferences. The professional development support afforded fifty-six students (22 female and 34 male) to attend the annual "Becoming Everything You Are "BEYA '' STEM conference and workshop that was held February 10-12, 2023. The outcome of this effort was as follows, eleven senior students reported that they were offered full-time employment and twenty-one students reported that they were offered internship opportunities as a result of their interviews at the BEYA job fair. We also supported the travel and lodging costs for twelve students to attend the National Society of Black Engineers Convention that was held March 22 - 26, 2023 in Kansas City, MO. We have leveraged Lockheed Martin's funding and Virginia Aerospace Business Association "VASBA"'s scholarship support to continue the efforts of attracting, engaging, and retaining minority and female students into Engineering and Computer Science programs. We are accomplishing this by enhancing the environment that positively reframes the rich academic and cultural experiences of our minority and female students to enhance their levels of confidence and persistence in the fields of Engineering and Technology.
