The CMLC ELL program is diverse to meet diverse lifestyle and current-language-level needs. We offer:1. English Classes ranging from Pre-Beginner to Intermediate2. English Conversation Circles, where learners can practice their language skills more casually and build friendships.3. Conversation Partner Program, a 1:1 language and friendship building program where the conversants get personalized support and attention.4. An Advanced English Bookclub 5. Opportunities to become more involved in the CMLC as a volunteer, or a teacher of ones speciality, to continue to practice English in a supportive environment. All CMLC English Language Learning offerings are given freely or with a $0+ sliding scale.IMMIGRATION SUPPORT: A vital program for community safety and civic engagement and representation is the CMLC Immigration Support Program. This program works to engage and support citizens, residents, immigrant, refugee, and international community members wherever they are at in their USA residency process. This program is a vital service and has enabled hundreds of people to be represented and active civic and social members of their broader community. The Immigration Support Program includes:1. Citizenship and Naturalization Tutoring, where an individual or family receives 1:1 support preparing for the naturalization exam, form-filing, and interview practice.2. Weekly Immigration Legal Clinic to screen applicants for forms of immigration relief and advise on their next legal steps.3. Immigration Filing Fee Loan, a no-interest, pay-as-you-can load to relieve the financial barrier to applying for immigration status. CMLC is a community-based learning center which serves the family nucleus holistically; promotes mutual understanding between cultures; offers culturally responsible and culturally specific intergenerational events; honors and supports heritage practice and preservation; upholds diversity, equity, and inclusion in our policy, practice, board, teachers, and leadership team; hosts welcoming and engaging community events; programs youth and adult art and cooking classes; culturally-specific youth camps; facilitates the Global Reflection Library, a material lending library for cultural awareness; and is a community-hub for resource navigation and connection to other local organizations and resources. The CMLC is a welcoming home that builds a cultural sense of belonging, allows for collective learning, and creates opportunities for involvement for community members from many diverse backgrounds.
