The work started in October 2021 when community contractors were responsible for conducting learning circles and community outreach to educate the Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (NHPI) Community in Anchorage, Alaska, on the effects of CoVid19. Information provided by CDC and Alaska Health Department was translated into NHPI languages. By the end of the year, 12 pop-up clinics with the Anchorage Health Department, Fairweather, LLC. Samuel Simmons Memorial hospital and Mountain View Health Services were held for community members, 361 individuals were vaccinated in Anchorage, Mat-Su, Juneau and Utqiakvik, 315 at-home tests and 163 prevention kits were distributed throughout Anchorage, and 5 Health Education sessions provided to NHPI churches. 400 11250 0 The "Bridging the Gaps!" initiative promotes the importance of mental health for our NHPI (Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander) community. Bridging The Gaps!, is a video series that is a platform for NHPI community to share experiences and challenges that they face daily within families, schools, churches and communities through different forms of expression. Pacific Community of Alaska partnered with community organizations to provide conversations around mental health. At the end of the year 51 community members attended our "Bridging the Gaps!" premiere and hosted a "Let's talk about it" conversation for our NHPI community where 24 community members attended. 3081 10000 0 Pacific Community of Alaska engaged in the promotion of voting in the NHPI community. Although the company policies are not posted online, they are a part of the company's handbook and are available to the public upon request. Pacific Community of Alaska uses this money for the maintenance of its office rental facility, printer and internet services, etc. Pacific Community of Alaska is a fairly new organization with a team of 5 or 6 individuals. Our focus has been on the outreach work to help in community service efforts. As an organization whose time and efforts are focused on not only expanding the knowledge of the Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander community on health but also promoting health and mental wellness, we are also an organization with limited numbers of funds. Our other focus is ensuring PCA has the funds to pay and organize its efforts. This will not be the norm for PCA but we hope that the work and efforts we are doing in the community can help expand into the future.
