CFJ San Jose youth organized and secured a commitment from East Side Union High School District to a 3 week restorative restart for the fall allowing 3 weeks of students and staff making space to build relationships, center racial justice, equity and the needs of students and families as they return to campus. CFJ Long Beach won their campaign for LBUSD to prioritize student health and resources for Black students in their budget this spring. The district is committing $1.6 million to establish wellness centers at every high school campus going forward. CFJ Oakland won a district commitment of $9 million to a mental health resolution prioritizing support for students as they return to campus. CFJ Fresno organized the Fresno Unified School District to expand the scope of ethnic studies in the district by using a racial justice lense across their courses and curriculum. Using a double equity approach, Fresno Unified will also pay student leaders to gather and record this feedback from their peers and community. Advocacy Achievements $3 billion to launch a statewide community schools initiative in up to 1,400 schools. This effort will provide funding for transformational and collaborative leadership, culturally relevant curriculum and teaching, community and student wellness hubs on campus, expanded access to enrichment and redesigned schedules through 2028. Increased Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) Base, Supplemental, & Concentration funding to $21,439 per pupil vs. $12,143 per pupil just 2 years ago. Over $700 million in investments to mental health supports, including expanding and strengthening school and county partnerships and capacity, along with establishing an Office of School-Based Health Programs. Stakeholders at every level of the organization participated in a diverse range of voter outreach activities including regional field campaigns and weekly themed phone and text banks. We contacted more than 14,000 voters, of which we were able to ID 9,100 individuals who agreed that corporations pay their fair share of taxes in California. OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: Statewide AchievementsAn additional $1.1 billion investment into the California Community Schools Partnership Program bringing the total investment to $4.1 billion.$100 million to expand the Community Engagement Initiative. Based on the collective power we have built in Sacramento we fought to expand the investment by nearly eight times as much to $100 million for the next 5 years.Leadership DevelopmentCFJ engaged 300 young people in annual leadership development and political education programming through our Summer Youth Leadership Academy, Student Leadership Retreat, and Working to Amplify the Voices of Youth programs. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 From the organization bylaws: QUALIFICATION (a) This Corporation shall have one class of voting members, who shall be known as "Leaders,X and the membership, voting and other rights, interests and privileges of each such member shall be equal. (b)Membership in this Corporation as a Leader shall be by invitation only, and potential members shall be nominated by the Board or the staff of the Corporation, or by an existing member of the Corporation, pursuant to the criteria adopted by the Board from time to time. (c)The Board may also offer non-voting "memberships" to additional classes of individuals. However, such members shall have no rights to vote or to exercise any of the rights, interests or privileges of the Leaders pursuant to these Bylaws. If all items are found to be acceptable, an authorization is signed and provided to authorize the outside accounting firm to process, sign and provide copies of the returns to be filed (paper or electronically) with the designated governmental agencies. The tax returns are then signed by the organization, stamped and mailed with certified return receipt or the signed form 8879 is provided to the outside accounting firm allowing electronic filing.
