The New Orleans Chamber Players and the Manhattan Chamber players are the same organization but because of artistic reasons apply under different names. Grantmaker's Description of How Grants are Used We maintain a website with formats for applications and descriptions of past projects funded. We usually have one-on-one conversations with prospective applicants prior to official submission of grants. Often we solicit grants from nonprofits we hear about in the community who are doing the kind of work we want to support. We do this because, as a nonprofit, we have a relatively low profile in the community. We encourage multi-year proposals, and we often fund an organization initially for a small grant, then later for a larger grant. We actively seek out smaller organizations whose work might have a smaller impact in terms of numbers, but a profound impact in terms of effect on its participants. Our grant cycles are flexible, and we consider grants when they come in. Our granting operation evolves to meet what we perceive to be needs in the community and the lack of institutional support from more established funders, focused on our interest in providing funds to support youth and emerging performing artists in the community. We also require period reporting after completion of funded event or annually in the case of multi-year grants as a requirement for future grant consideration. These reports, usually with accompanying images, are then put on our website for reference by other organizations seeing information about who we are and what we do.
